DIRECT TAX COLLECTIONS-HUGE GROWTH IN THE LAST 9 YEARS.

 India's personal income tax collections have gone up by double the pace of Corporate Tax collections in the last 9 years .....The Personal Income Tax collection grew by 294%  to Rs 10.45 lac crores in 2023-24....from just Rs 2.65 lac crores in 2014-15... 

The number of tax payers has increased from 5.7 crore in 2014-15 to 10.41 crores in 2023-24....

 The Tax to GDP ratio improved from 5.55% in 2014-15 to 6.64% in 2023-24....

 The direct tax collection to the overall tax collection has increased marginally during the period to 56.72%.... 

Just 5 states; Maharastra, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamilnadu and Gujarat contributed 72% of the direct net tax collections during 2023-24... 

Of the total direct collections in 2023-24 Maharastra alone accounted for a third with Rs 7.61 lac crores....
